ATA NV Books Are Traveling The World

Meeting with Chairman of Assembly of the Istanbul Chamber of Commerce

It has begun a year ago... ATA NV has processed over 1000 books and distributed to the world since Fall 2011. In Summer 2011, we have received an email in our "IdeaBox" from ATA NV member Nancy Wood. She was asking about if ATA NV would involve with a project about collecting books and distributing them in a different way. Then... We gave the leading role to Mrs. Wood on this amazing project!

Months passed... A lot of hard work took place during time... A group of volunteers met constantly to achieve our goal to create difference... Nancy and Larry Wood worked so hard to do this task perfect and still leading the project and as of today. It all started with creating the main label and opening an account on a website, called "bookcrossing.com".

Share-A-Book Program

All books in this program were donated!

ATA is distributing books throughout the valley to encourage children, teens and adults to pick up a book, read it and then pass it along. Books that are placed in Las Vegas will be appropriate for the general public. Since we are a nonprofit organization there is no cost to anyone involved in any phase of this program. ATA is working in conjunction with BookCrossing, a well-established web site, who will track the books for Share-A-Book. ATA asks the finder to log onto a computer and register the book so it can be tracked by the system.

BookCrossing assigns a tracking number to each book which allows their system to track the book as it is passed from person to person and country to country. After reading the book the finder is asked to share it with another person or leave it somewhere it can easily be found. Currently BookCrossing is tracking over 9 million books in 137 countries. ATA’s goal, through reading, is to bridge the gap between the citizens of the world. We chose Share-A-Book as one of our vehicles.

Over 1000 books collected from school libraries by Nancy and Larry Wood. Books were sorted, labeled and entered into the bookcrossing.com
