During his trip to Türkiye this summer, ATA-NV President Mr. İsmail Onat was connected to TÜGİK through KUGİAD and EGAFED. A small meeting in Kuşadası was a leading point to giant parnership between two organizations. After Kuşadası meeting, Mr. Onat had several phone meetings with TÜGİK General Chairman Mr. Erkan Güral and EGAFED President and TÜGİK General Secretary Mr. Efkan Ceylan. ATA-NV President Mr. Onat and TÜGİK General Chairman Mr. Erkan Güral finally met in İstanbul in mid July. Both leaders were agreed on many topics which could be established between two organizations.

TURKEY’S YOUNG PEOPLE SHAPE THE FUTURE OF TÜRKİYE

The efforts bringing together Türkiye's young businessmen under the umbrella of the same confederation begun in the 1990s and TÜGİK was finally established on September 3, 2004 by passing the various stages.

TÜGİKhas always remained as the follower of the same target with its GİADs, affiliated federations, associations, management boards, presidents and members since its inception.

That target not only successfully carries out the social responsibility and social support activities but also answers the economic expectations of member businessmen.

Our confederation is Türkiye’s most prestigious and one of the most successful non-governmental organizations and also Türkiye’s leading young businessmen organization with about nine thousand members.

Today TÜGİK is not just a corporate identity but much more importantly a great family name, an expression of a vision, a prescient point of view and sincerity.

My friends of TÜGİK members set a good example in the business community with their social responsibilities beyond their personal identity of businessmen, personalities and achievements.

Success regains its true meaning provided that it is only glorified with stability. TÜGİK in this sense, grow in a stable manner, develops its goals and Türkiye’s young people will continue to shape the future of Türkiye.

TÜGİK'S ESTABLISHMENT AND DEVELOPMENT

In the early 1990s, TÜGİK as the young businessmen movement from the 1990s to today, was officially founded as being the first businessmen confederation of Türkiye. YOUNG BUSINESS MEN who love their motherland, coming from Gaziantep, Denizli, Adana, Bursa, which are leading cities in economic fields in Anatolia as well as Istanbul, Ankara and Izmir, came together and established Young Businessmen Association (GİAD) for the purpose of improving social and cultural relations and having a voice in civil society's power over the country.

The fact that the civil society organizations can have an affect on the government, I influence public opinion and be solutions to the local and national problems is not always, but usually directly proportional to the reality that they have many quantitative members and a good organization.

Nine young businessmen of Young Businessmen Association (GİAD) came together and decided to create a TÜGİK in Bursa because of this idea mentioned above and the fact that law aforementioned time shall not allow for associations to merge, to form federations and confederations. Each one of the following dates and events is a landmark in the process of from TÜGİK’s establishment so far spent until today.

January 1992: Declaring a will in terms of forming TÜGİK, coming together of nine GİADs in Bursa. Mr. Şerif Kaynar was elected president to carry out the activities here.

30 September to 3 October 1994: The decision of TÜGİK’s establishment in the meeting held in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus.

27-30 October 1994: Holding the first Ordinary General Meeting of the Turkish Young Businessmen's Supreme Council In Antalya and being elected of Mr. Mehmet Bayraktar, GYİAD President, as a Founder President of TÜGİK.

24-26 March 1995 : The realization of the principle of agreement signing ceremony in Uludağ.

22-29 October 1995: The realization of the second usual TÜGİK convention in Ankara and being elected of Mr. Alpan Veryeri as the II. Term President of the TÜGİK.

8-10 November 1996 : The realization of the third usual TÜGİK convention in Pamukkale, Denizli and being elected of Mr. Orhan Efe as the III. Term President of the TÜGİK.

December 20, 1997 : The realization of the fourth usual TÜGİK convention in İstanbul and being elected of Mr. Melih Mekik as the IV. Term President of the TÜGİK.

November 10, 1998: TÜGİK Foundation was formally established under the president of the founders, Mr. Melih Mekik.

2002 : Mr. Erhan Özmen, GAGİAD President, was elected as the president of TÜGİK and the study of confederation was initiated.

September 3, 2004: The establishment of Türkiye's Young Businessmen Confederation under the leadership of the Founder President Mr. Erhan Özmen.

May 20, 2005: The realization of the first ordinary congress of the Confederation in Ankara.

December 2, 2006: Mr. Hazim Sesli was elected as the President of TÜGİK.

January 26, 2008: Mr. Hazim Sesli was elected second time as the President of TÜGİK.

January 23, 2010 : Mr. Erkan GÜRAL was elected as the President of TÜGİK. Mr. Hazim Sesli was elected as the President of YİK.

As the dates above implies, TÜGİK, that was constituted as high board on 27-30 October 1994, even it was not legally a confederation, with the name of the High Council and its activities in the whole country, covering an organizational structure within its members' needs and expectations to respond, began to develop solutions to problems.

That Young Businessmen in 1990s came together and attempted to organize nationally and the success in this regard is really admirable achievement.

The most important period in TÜGİK's history is without a doubt the period that began to organize as a foundation. On November 10, 1998, Young Businessmen, Melih Mekik, H. Cüneyt Karagülle, A. Nejat Koçer, Ibrahim Demireren, H. Ethem Germiyanoğlu, Rafet Balkaroğlu and Dr. Erhan Yaşar created a nationwide organization, by organizing the Turkish Young Businessmen's Foundation since the law does not allow the confederation to be set up.

During the 2000s, beginning with Türkiye's EU membership talk process, with the changes on the regulations depending on the Civil Law and Association Law, under the chairmanship of Mr. Erhan Özmen, Türkiye Young Businessmen Confederation TÜGİK was founded on 3 September 2004 in Ankara, which was Türkiyey's first businessmen confederation. Thus, TÜGİK has played an encouraging role in the establishment of the other businessman federations operating in our country.

TÜGİK, as a result of 15 years of experiences, has become a businessman confederation in recent years, whose name can be heard on public opinion, whose values can be given in the press, whose views could be taken into account, which has the influence on the ruling and opposition parties, which can be institutionalized, whose members can communicate in the electronic media communications, which can establish permanently agenda forming activity that can perform continuous target of renewed in-service training to members and employees with the corporate culture, by planning each activity in a visionary approach.

TÜGİK, in accordance with its organizational goals, has not only responded to the economic expectations of the businessmen but also has given importance to the social support activities, and fulfilled such activities at every turn.

Parallel to the development of civil society culture in Türkiye, TÜGİK is an organization, which has the ability and determination in producing solutions to the problems of the country and the nation.
