BARBARA WOOD

Barbara Wood is the Director of University Relations for Roseman University of Health Services, formerly known as the University of Southern Nevada, a 501(c)(3) private nonprofit health care focused institution. She presents over 19 events each year in Nevada and Utah, both in fundraising and in community outreach. Barbara co-writes and does interviews on the University's weekly cable TV show, "Community Health Beat". She serves on the Editorial Board for the University's "RemEDy Magazine" and, recently, the University's name change committee. Barbara started the community outreach health festivals for the University seven years ago offering the students a chance to volunteer presenting free health screenings for the public and allowing other health care organizations to provide their life-saving information as well.

Ms. Wood is an awarded, published and produced playwright, poet and writer. Locally, her articles, interviews and bios have been published in "Las Vegas image Magazine", "Life & Style Magazine" and "American Times Magazine". She is recognized locally and nationally as an advocate for health through public education and nonprofit fundraising. As a volunteer and leader for over 16 nonprofits, she has been instrumental in raising over 4.2 million dollars and has chaired over 56 events in Nevada. As a professional fundraiser for three nonprofits, Barbara has presented and led fundraising events raising over 8.1 million dollars. In addition to this, she has written and produced over 58 public service announcements for TV and radio.

Barbara is on the Executive Board of the Women's Chamber of Commerce of Nevada where she has chaired the Athena Awards for 4 years, hosted the Women's Power Breakfast for two years and helped to originate the government affairs committee. She received the first Pioneer and Humanitarian Awards from that Chamber. Barbara is a graduate of the Las Vegas Chamber leadership Las Vegas program and has served on their Board of Trustees and two councils, having received the Circle of Excellence Award and the Woman of Achievement Award. She is on the board of the World Affairs Council Las Vegas, The Advisory Board for the India Chamber of Commerce, the Nevada Global Leadership Coalition, the Civilian Military Council for Nellis AFB, Women in Arts-Enertainment & Media, the Association of Fundraising Professionals and Friends of the Arts of Boulder City. Barbara has received over 28 local, state and national awards for her work. She has owned 6 companies and is currently writing 3 books.
